Best Friend

Best Friend is a non-profit social welfare organization which we started on 01/01/2016.We started with 9 members and on the completion of 5 years we are launching a large number of welfare programs with 15 regular members, connecting with local and foreign friends.
The main reason we started something like this was the social environment around us. We live in a heterogeneous society. We wanted to help people who were not paying attention in such a society. Based on that, we started the company with a few friends.
We created this foundation not for popularity or publicity but simply to help people. We consider helping the needy not as our duty but as our pleasure.
We hope that one day everyone will live a happy and healthy life. Until then, we will stand up for them.

Our vision is to create better everyday life for many people in society and to uplift their lives.
Mission
We connect people around the sri lanka in the fight to end poverty. Working together, we invest in the lives of children,youth and elders build the healthy environments they need to thrive, and empower them to create lasting change in their own lives and communities.
GLOBAL DEFINITION OF SOCIAL WORK:-
“Social work is a practice-based profession and an academic discipline that promotes social change and development, social cohesion, and the empowerment and liberation of people. Principles of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversities are central to social work. Underpinned by theories of social work, social sciences, humanities and indigenous knowledge, social work engages people and structures to address life challenges and enhance wellbeing. The above definition may be amplified at national and/or regional levels.”

We are certified by SACSS.
World Social Work Day is on the 16th March 2021.

Each year BASW is proud to support and stand together with social workers across the world to mark World Social Work Day, which this year is on 16th March. Each year this focuses on a ‘Global Social Work Agenda’ theme developed via the International Federation of Social Workers in which BASW is the UK representative body.
